We
offer two educational tours at our orchard; one of
the apple orchard and another of the corn maze. Tours are held from
9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays beginning August
28th.
Apple Orchard Tours
(Preschool - Third Grade) This tour is designed for ages
pre-school through third grade. It lasts approximately one hour,
and includes a slide presentation, a short walk through the
orchard, a brief demonstration about bees, how the apples are harvested, sorted
and graded, and how the cider is made. The tour wraps up with
questions and answers and then the teachers will take apples and
cider with them for the students to enjoy The cost of the tour is
$2.50 per person, and this includes a gift, brochure and coupons
that each person will receive before leaving. The minimum group
charge is $35.00. If you would also like donuts for your group,
please order when booking your tour, the cost is $4.95 per dozen
or purchased individually by adding .50 cents to each child's tour
fee.
 Corn
Maze Tours
(Second - Eighth Grade) This tour lasts approximately
one hour and takes place in our 10 acre corn maze. After a
brief introduction to the corn maze, the students will be separated
into groups of 6 to 8 students per chaperone, and given educational
passports that will lead them on a self-guided tour of the maze.
The passports will have agriculturally based questions that correspond
to sign posts located throughout the maze. By answering the questions
correctly, they will be directed to the correct pathway to the one
and only exit from the maze. Students will get lost
and have fun learning about agriculture along the way. This tour
supports goals for Illinois Learning Standards by providing problem
solving, learning how technology is used, working in teams and making

Prior to your scheduled tour, please access these sites to help
generate lesson plans and activities for the tour. This tour
requires a chaperone for every 6 to 8 students. The cost for students
is $2.50 each, teachers and chaperones are admitted free of charge.
Each student will receive a brochure and coupon for $1.00 off their

Our shelter house can be reserved for any tour groups that wish
to bring lunches. Due to the large number of tour requests last
year, this year we are allowing all schools and teachers that have
previously done tours with us to have preference for sign up this
Fall. If you did a tour with us last year, you will have from
now to September 10th to book either by phone or by email.
After September 10th, the tours will be scheduled on a first come,
first served basis.
